Fear is a primeval emotion with deep and uncontrollable stimuli. It precedes the logic as it is associated with a the neurons group of the brain called Amygdala, a relic of the "primitive" brain. It is linked with emotional intelligence and emotional reactions, with memory and instinctive functions.
If we observe our reaction on the sound of a loud sudden bang, we will infer that no matter how many years go by, no matter how much we try to expel our fear, momentarily we shake, we frighten and may even scream. This is a reaction to be observed in a five year old child, as in a forty-five years old adult. That happens because the neurons of Amygdala are activated, a reaction that is "fitted" in our genetic material long before the n
eocortex, a so-called "thinking" part of the brain that represents all our reactions based logic.
In conclusion, the human species is 'programmed' biologically and psychologically to react with fear to the same stimuli, in all historical periods. The knowledge of the primordial power of fear introduces as an emotion.
Many parents cause /provoke the emotion of fright to their children in the result of doing what they want. Here are some examples:
"It is prohibited to talk bad because God will punish us, " "stay here close to me because there is evil giant who eats children", "only if you're a good boy, Santa Claus will bring you a gift", " you should eat all your food otherwise you will not grow taller. "
It is true that the initial intention of the parents is the love or the concern about their children. But is this the right way?
Parents try to manipulate their children using fear as their "weapon" when in fact they just transform it into a "weapon of destruction. " It is true that there are times when fear overwhelms us and others that we try to make sure that we have buried it inwardly. We share common fears such as the fear of death, fear of the unknown future, of rejection or failure's. On the other hand, fear can even work in our favor and even act as a savior for our own lives, serve as a weapon of domination in all that which "persecute" us secretly or not.
It all comes down to, which side do you choose?
Introducing fear as a weapon of power or weapon of destruction?
Choose wisely!
